For those of you not yet in the know, GBE 35?is Achievements.?If you are not part of the Group Blogging Experience, well, quit dawdling...and join in!I consider it an achievement just to spell the word right these days.?Such a big word.?It can be very intimidating.?Especially if you are comparing yourself to the likes of Albert Einstein.?While I do admire those that achieve on a very large level, it is those that do it small scale that get my undying hero worship.I hear a lot of "Oh how I wish I had achieved something by now."?I ask them, are you not eating, a roof over your head, walking, talking, holding a job, raising your children??Are you not contributing to society??These are achievements we all overlook, when they are ofttimes the most daunting tasks to complete.Lifetime achievement awards are not given to those of us who are doing some of the bigger things.?Perhaps you foster children, helping them to see some kind of normalcy, helping those children from a broken life repair it, and become functioning members of society.?Maybe you create small works of art, that only a few see and understand, only a few feel what you are feeling.? |
Maybe you create small works of art, that only a few see and understand, only a few feel what you are feeling.?That connection is hard to make, and yet it is also a great achievement, for that other person looking at the small picture, hearing the small composition may no longer feel alone, so separate from others.?Perhaps as parents you are barely keeping a roof over your children's heads, and food in their belly, working hard, paying the bills.?But your children feel your love, devotion and know that they are important at least to you.?This is a great achievement. In today's society, it seems as if only those in magazines, on TV or radio are the great achievers.?It has become one very large popularity contest.?This, to me, is not achievement, it is merely having great PR.?I have done a lot in my short life.?But my greatest achievements are barely noticed.?A family that is together, fed, a roof over their head, and laughter every day.?Achievements are in the smallest moments, the smallest goals met.?And in a big word I didn't have to use spell check to ensure I typed it out correctly. |
